Princess Beatrice’s Royal Wedding Hat was sold for £81,100.01 ($130,738.99 approx) on ebay.
The hat recieved so much attention when Princess Beatrice wore it on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding on 29 April 2011.
Many thought the hat was ridiculous looking and looked like a toilet seat. There are facebook fan page created for the hat with over 100k likes.

100% of the money will go to the charity (Unicef and Children in Crisis).
The item was originally listed with a starting price of £5000 that got suspended or removed by eBay.
There was a question and answer posted on the listing; about the items suspension.
This is the reply to the question by the seller:
Due to a technical issue, eBay erroneously suspended the auction of the item. However, the auction is now back up and running, and will conclude on Sunday as planned. eBay has apologised for any inconvenince the disruption may have caused.
Princess Beatrice’s Royal Wedding Hat was relisted for a 1 day duration that ended on May 22 2011 20:31 BST. The item then was relisted with a starting price of £80,000 to continue.
On the 2nd listing there was total of 3 bidders for this item with 5 total bids between them. The bidders were have to be approved prior to bid.
The item number of the final listing on ebay is 230624681772. Click here to view on eBay. The other listing item number was 230620500557, which cannot be seen on ebay, it says “This listing (230620500557) has been removed, or this item is not available.” But it can be seen on googles cached pages currently. See the screenshot below. It shows the item was ended with no bids on 21 May 2011 16:50:30 BST. This listing did actually recieve bids originally.

I think it is cool that all the money was given to charity but I think the hat itself looked absolutely silly. I don’t know who would want to wear that.

It does look like a toliet seat now that you mention it. I guess to each their own and it is great that all that money went to charities that need it.
I think if you wore this hat in the public, everyone would laugh at you (and would certainly be right by doing so
), but somehow she looked good in it and if she can donate some money she earned from it, it’s even better.
I love that hat! Its been all over the world; through the web though LOL.
Despite being a frivolous, the positive is that it used the money to good works and charity.

As much as I dislike silly celebrity fame, I do enjoy watching them use that influence for charitable purposes, so maybe there could be a little plan for royalty to wear ridiculous outfits every year and sell them all for charity. Lady Gaga would raise a ton.
Great hat but it’s not something you wear day by day. Great for collectors though and indeed, i see Lady Gaga wearing this!
